Divalent cations, such as Mg2+, are required as a cofactor for DNA polymerases used in PCR. Thus, MgCl2 concentration affects productivity and fidelity of the DNA polymerase. MgCl2 also has an effect on primer binding to the target DNA. For convenience in optimizing your PCR conditions, choose GoTaq® product formats that include 5X GoTaq® Flexi Reaction Buffers, such as GoTaq® and GoTaq® G2 Flexi DNA Polymerases, GoTaq® and GoTaq® G2 Hot Start Polymerases and GoTaq® MDx DNA Polymerases.
